The sun sets over Farrand Field's iconic arch.

Farrand Field — named for CU’s fourth president, Livingston Farrand — is home to lush, green grass and a performance stage. On any given day, a passerby to this centerpiece of campus can see band practice, studiers in hammocks or an enthusiastic game of Frisbee. It’s sometimes called Farrand Beach for the avid sunbathers who love its shade-free expanse. The parking lot that borders the quad is the campus skateboarding mecca, where there is almost always someone practicing their ollie. Whatever your hobby, the field is a prime spot on campus to take in the Flatirons and watch as the sun sets over Boulder.
