CU hires a Native student support position in Student Services
Junior Reina Toc has been hired in Student Affairs at the Center for Inclusion and Social Change to specifically support Native American students.
Junior (he/him/él) comes to us from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he served as program director at the office of international affairs at Lehigh University. Junior is a first-generation professional, born in Guatemala, having lived in Los Angeles, California, for five years before being raised in the far northeast Denver’s neighborhoods of Montbello and Green Valley Ranch. Junior received his B.A. in English writing, M.A. in secondary education and Ph.D. in critical studies in education focusing on Indigenous students in the K-12 educational system from the University of Colorado Denver. Junior has 15 years of dedicated work in higher education, specializing in roles directly engaging students. His focus has been on empowering underrepresented and marginalized students from a variety of backgrounds. Throughout his career, he has worn multiple hats, serving as an advisor, community leader, advocate, and organizer. During his free time, Junior enjoys spending time with his family, taking care of silkie chickens, and dancing along with spoken word.
While Junior does not work for CNAIS, we are already collaborating closely with him, and his hiring will enhance CNAIS’ ability to focus more on its core teaching, research, and outreach missions while still being closely engaged with the student community.
