CMCI Now - Spring 2022
Dear %%First Name%%,
As we wrap up the spring semester, there are so many things to be excited about!
A few weeks ago, we kicked off our centennial celebration of journalism at CU. On April 21, 1922, the University of Colorado Board of Regents voted to form the Department of Journalism and to create a four-year journalism degree program. Over the next year, our celebration will continue with events on campus, stories in our magazine and posts on our social media channels. We’d love to hear your stories as well, so stay tuned!
I’m also thrilled to host our first in-person graduation recognition ceremony in three years on May 6 and celebrate the accomplishments of almost 800 CMCI students earning degrees this year. We’re lucky to have two prominent journalism alumni join us on stage: Juan Espinosa (Jour’74), an award-winning journalist whose photo archive of the Chicano civil rights movement has been widely used in exhibits and documentaries, and NBC News correspondent Tom Costello (Jour’87), who was selected by the Senior Class Council to deliver the university commencement speech this year.
Many of our faculty, students and alumni have been in the news this spring, and we’re sharing a selection of those highlights in this edition of CMCI Now. I hope you enjoy the stories we’ve selected.
Warm regards,
