About CMCI
Why CMCI?
The CMCI story is truly unique. Our six majors are interdisciplinary, with classes, projects and perspectives teaching you to understand how distinct, but related, fields overlap. Your courses will teach you to look for hidden connections in the world and understand how to find value in the places where different ideas intersect. CMCI offers you the future-oriented perspective you’ll need for long-term success in business, and the network to help you be an early-career standout.
For a new world of business
Complexity is the name of the game in today’s business world. It’s no longer enough to be skilled in one area, like marketing or finance. Increasingly, industry is looking for people who can bring an interdisciplinary perspective to challenges that don’t neatly fit into a single category. The people who excel in business today are curious about learning, can think critically about new tools and strategies, and cringe when they hear “we do it this way because that’s how it’s always been done.”
If that sounds like you, you may be right at home in the College of Media, Communication and Information.

Meet Olivia Quintana

Olivia elected to student business to further her interest in entrepreneurship, but found herself struggling with a courseload that was heavy in math, accounting and finance. Switching to public relations while minoring in business has been the best of both worlds.
I was so excited to discover public relations, because it allows me to use my leadership and entrepreneurial skills to really feel like I’m able to make a difference."
Minor in business
The Leeds School of Business offers a minor in business, which is the largest one at CU Boulder.
This program is the perfect complement to a CMCI major and lets you see how your lessons in creativity and critical thinking align with organizational missions and goals. You can apply to the business minor for fall, spring or summer admission.
