It is with great pleasure I announce the hiring of a new faculty member, Dr. Jihye Park, who will be joining the Department of Chemistry as an Assistant Professor in January 2020.
Dr. Park’s research program will focus on the design and synthesis of novel porous materials (i.e., metal–organic frameworks) and their heterostructures or composites that lead to unprecedented photonic/electronic functionalities. Her research will involve ligand design, synthetic methodology development, exploration of emergent properties at different length scale, as well as studies of mechanistic understanding associated with materials synthesis. Her ultimate research goal is to develop new electronically active materials for various applications including sensors, catalysts, and energy storage. Dr. Park will be teaching Organic Materials in Spring 2020.
Dr. Park is excited to become part of our community and begin working with our students. We are delighted to welcome her to the Department of Chemistry!
