NASA has quite a few amazing student challenges underway. Are you interested in putting together a project proposal? COSGC is here to help! We will help get interested students together, meet with your team and help develop and review your proposals.

2026-27 WARP SPEED Program - Application closed

Minimum requirements: Some positions require specific skills or experience but many positions only require the interest to learn and become engaged in a project. Students are required to work at least 4 hours a week participating on a team, though student hourly positions are typically 10 hours/wk.  Summer opportunities can go up to 30 hours.

How to get involved:

1. Positions are typically posted about 2 weeks prior to the semester / term start.  Follow the above link to access a PDF with available position details and submit an application if interested.  The goal is to hold interviews during the second week of the semester. Update your web browser cache if needed to see the current term descriptions.

2. Please fill out an application form to let us know how you want to get involved. This is the first step in our application process, where we look for students that have a passion for building their skills and a deep interest in space. Our positions are highly competitive, so please fill this form out with that in mind.

3. Additional Positions may be added during the first few weeks of the semester, so check back.

WARPSPEED PROGRAM

WARP-SPEED: Work Amidst Real-world Projects - Space Professional Exploration Enrichment and Development
 PROJECT Description: The WARP-SPEED program engages an interdisciplinary student cohort interested in exploring space-related research in their early semesters at CU Boulder through immersion in experiential learning. The program begins with skill-building workshops in a collaborative environment where students build technical, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Students then choose from several projects to work in teams from mid-fall 2026 through spring 2027. These projects include robotics, wearable technology design, environmental monitoring, and high-altitude balloon experiments.  WARP-SPEED also serves as a training ground for more advanced projects in the future.

This is a paid, stipend position, competitive application required, 24 spaces available. Apply through September 2, 2026. Students must be available for the weekly meeting times in the Fall semester: Monday and Thursday evenings from 5-7pm. Spring semester hours will vary, depending on the project team, but the expectation is 5-8 hours per week. Students will be notified of acceptance by September 4, The program begins Thursday, September 10. 
Who should apply: We are seeking students from a broad range of majors (including but not limited to all STEM majors) and backgrounds. In alignment with NASA’s assertion that inclusive teams produce the best outcomes and are critical to mission success, we want WARP-SPEED participants to bring a wide range of skills, backgrounds, and perspectives to the project. In short, if you have ever considered a career in space, you should apply.  WARP-SPEED has no citizenship restrictions. Colorado Space Grant Consortium is open to all CU Boulder students and does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, creed, religion, veteran status, marital status, political affiliation, political philosophy, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression in accordance with state, federal, and Regent law. If I don’t get selected, can I apply again? Yes! We encourage students who wish to participate to apply as many times as it takes to get selected. We unfortunately can only have so many students participate in the program each year due to funding.
