Jenny Frankel-Reed

Jenny is a Senior Program Officer with the Agricultural Development team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In this role, she supports climate strategy and develops investments and partnerships to increase the Foundation’s contributions to climate resilience in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and globally. Prior to her work with the foundation starting in 2020, she spent 10 years at USAID leading the climate adaptation team and providing technical support to climate projects in 20 countries and regions across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. She also coordinated a global partnership with NASA to equip regional organizations serving 23 countries with satellite data and scientific collaborations with U.S. research institutions. She has worked on climate change and development since 2002, including on a rural development and adaptation project with the German Development Agency (GIZ) based in India, on strategic adaptation projects at the United Nations Development Program, supporting the adaptation funds managed by the Global Environment Facility, on corporate environmental strategy with the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy, and on climate metrics and the Global Forest Watch program at the World Resources Institute. Jenny holds a master's degree in Global Change Science and Policy from the Yale School of the Environment.
