Ilham Siddiq is a master's student in Civil Systems at the University of Colorado Boulder. He holds a master's degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Universitas Muhammadiyah Aceh, Indonesia. Ilham has life experience as a victim of the Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami in 2004. After completing his bachelor's degree, he worked for the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, where he collected data for research and worked with stakeholders to incorporate new research findings into the city's development policies. Ilham is deeply interested in disaster risk reduction especially for low-resourced communities. To decompress after a long day, Ilham spends hours in the kitchen cooking spicy Indonesian food while humming along to Nat King Cole or Louis Armstrong.
