While in Europe, I was amazed by the mindset engineers are forced to take when developing new projects. In areas where digging underground anywhere can expose ruins of previous civilizations, European Countries have much more buried history to consider when planning large-scale engineering feats. Through the Global Engineering RAP, I hope to learn about the unique problems engineers have to deal with when working in different countries and continents, to grow my own adaptability as an engineer.
When I picture my hallway in the Global Engineering RAP, I picture students who share my interests of STEM developments and knowledge. I know that the friends made in the RAP will be incredible peers that I can learn from to better myself and my own working habits. These students are all outstanding academically, but I hope to find friends just as much as study partners. I am ecstatic to be able to share a living space with so many who hold my fascination with Engineering and STEM.
The Global Engineering RAP presents me an opportunity that I cannot pass up. As an engineer, I must prepare myself to think about problems from all perspectives instead of just my own. This RAP will let me learn from other talented engineering students about their own views and processes they consider when tackling issues, just as my own views and processes hopefully can impact them. Coming from a high school that placed an incredibly strong emphasis on Community, I plan to contribute my experience with developing and fostering a community to strengthen the Global Engineering RAP’s togetherness and communication.
