My dad was in the Navy so I received many trips abroad as a child from living in Japan and doing pre-K there to traveling to France after getting my B-2 certificate from the French Government. Going to France was quite the experience since our apartment in Paris was in view of the Eifel Tower and everything we could ever need was within walking distance. I would go to the bakery down the street from the apartment with my brother who also knows French to get our family breakfast since we were the translators and our parents would just tell us what to get. Going to cafes and other dining areas we would order in French and the waiters couldn't believe that there were places in the U.S. that taught languages at our level as 7th and 8th graders.
I would want the person that's living down the hall from me to simply be different from me. I only wish that they allow me to experience something new like food, an idea, or a new tradition. Not everything about them needs to be different. I would like them to have a similar taste in music and a propensity to hike the Flatirons, but a homogenous Global RAP would be paradoxical.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder in an attempt to be a part of rebuilding Notre Damme and the restoration of other old buildings in Europe. I hope that the Global Engineering RAP will give me the opportunity to get into the circles required to land a job as important as that.
