I haven’t had many global experiences, which is part of what makes the Global Engineering RAP so exciting, because I’ll have the opportunities to pursue that goal , as well as surrounding myself with others who have had global experiences that I can learn from, and have the same interests with me. The only time that I have been out of the US was when I went to Costa Rica to play soccer. I had a fantastic time there, getting to experience a different culture, serve in a couple of different communities and get small insight into the problems there that I believe are similar to other places in the world. I’ve kept in touch with a few friends I made there and we talked during the pandemic about the economic issues they faced due to the lack of tourism which I have great sympathy for.
I think that the perfect hallmate would be someone who is just as passionate about engineering and helping others as I am. Someone who is not up late partying, but wants to have fun and participate in school activities. I want to be able to support each other and be there for one another, and I think the most important thing is I want is a neighbor who is willing to study together and help each other, even if we aren’t studying the same things.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP at Boulder because I have never seen anything like this program anywhere else. The access to Global Engineering coursework was a deciding factor in my choosing to attend Boulder. My dream is to go into humanitarian engineering and go on to work for Engineers Without Borders, and I believe that the Global Engineering RAP will help me learn more about what this field is like, and prepare me for facing world problems. I believe that I will personally contribute new ideas and always ask questions. It is my passion to help others, and I love inspiring others to do the same.
