When I was around 7 years old, my family and I traveled to Europe. We visited St. Petersburg, Paris, London, Rome, southern Ireland, and Corsica. This was an amazing experience for me, especially at such a young age. It was my first time experiencing other cultures besides my own. I remember being perplexed by all the languages, which I learned a bit of for every country I visited. My favorite thing to say was "excusez-moi" for excuse me. I would find every opportunity to use this phrase while I was in France. Before this trip, I had never thought about the world as a whole, but afterward I became extremely interested in history and the many cultures on earth.
My dream places to visit are Machu Picchu in Peru and Mt. Fuji in Japan. It would be amazing to learn about the Inca people in Machu Picchu, and to see the ancient structures for myself. Many of the buildings are still standing because they cut the stones to fit exactly into one another, without using anything like mortar. Mt. Fuji would also be amazing to visit both for the beauty and the research that happens there. This is because, along with Engineering and Physics, I love Meteorology. Many studies have been done on the sky and clouds over Mt. Fuji because of its altitude and unique location by the Pacific Ocean. I would also like to meet some of the locals and experience their way of life.

Global experiences and perspectives can improve the field of engineering because many different innovations have been made around the world. Different cultures have unique ways of engineering. By combining these diverse perspectives, new inventions can be made. For example, I saw the Eiffel Tower and the London Bridge. Both are engineering feats, and both have their own techniques and designs. Engineering must be approached differently based on where you are as well, with Japan designing their buildings to withstand even the strongest of earthquakes, and the Bahrain World Trade Center turning high winds into energy by using wind turbines. Even the buildings here in Colorado are built to withstand heavy snow, strong winds, and blizzards. In Aerospace, many developments have been made with other countries in mind. The space race saw to the invention of GPS, which has enabled humans to travel and expand in a way not previously possible. By combining diverse experiences and ways of thinking, engineering has gone far in the past century and will continue to go farther than ever before in human history.
I would like to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP because I am hardworking, love to help others, and I would like to contribute to a community. First, I consider myself hardworking. I have realized over the years that my stubbornness can be positive. This is because once I set my mind on something, I won’t quit. This tendency was especially noticeable when I got my first job during my freshman year of high school. It was challenging both physically and mentally, but I kept at it and just recently had my third anniversary there. Being a part of the Global Engineering RAP would contribute to my training as an engineer and person because it would enable me to meet people who also have a passion for engineering and who could encourage me when things get difficult, and I would do the same for them. Having a community is incredibly important, no matter the situation, but it is especially important in the field of engineering because teamwork is so engrained in the fabric of engineering, but many engineers like to approach things alone. Lastly, I want to help people. Engineering has contributed to many changes that have made life better for countless people, and I hope to be a part of that. Global Engineering RAP is a community where I could make an impact. Whether it be through encouraging people, helping through achievements and ideas, or caring for people, I would like to be involved.
