In 11th grade, I took a course called Global Leadership which focused on how (as individuals) we can help our planet become a cleaner and better place to live in. At the end of the year, the class (which consisted of 23 students) traveled to Germany and Switzerland to observe how different countries were working towards making the world a cleaner environment to live in. From this incredible experience, I was able to see how diverse countries are doing their part in helping the planet. This changed my perspective from believing that one person can't make a significant shift toward helping our planet, to understanding that every small step matters and each and every person can do their part to create a cleaner, more sustainable planet. The class and trip opened my eyes to the harsh reality of the world we live in and how, as people living in it, we must do everything we can to protect it for future generations. After my eyes were opened to our environmental issues, at CU I would like to keep helping our planet wherever I can by creating or joining a club focused on helping the planet become a more environmentally friendly place.
The person I would want living down the hall from me in Global Engineering RAP would be someone who cares about the world. I would want someone who wanted to succeed in school and work hard and help change the world one step at a time. This person would also be fun to be around but know when it's time to sit down and study. They would have a flame within them that was ignited over the thought of working hard and helping the environment.
I would like to be apart of the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder because I believe that I can help make the world and CU Boulder a better place. If I were to be apart of RAP I could help use my training as an engineer to help make the world and cleaner and more advanced place. I can also contribute to the residential community as I like to hang out with friends but also know when it's time to sit down and study.
