Multiple vibrant and lasting travel experiences have encouraged my interest in Global Engineering. Last year I spent 10 days traveling solo to Rome, Italy. I visited a friend, and spent time in both the cities of Rome and Florence. We visited museums and historical sites, as well as local restaurants. My time in Italy immersed me with a local’s perspective of a commonly visited city, and gave me experience of independent international travel. I also visited Turks and Caicos Islands for a week. This experience immersed me with marine life that I have not had the chance to experience while living here in Colorado. I gained an appreciation and interest for the complexities of marine life as well as reefs, and developed my interest in an Environmental Engineering major. These two experiences sparked passion for travel. I believe travel compliments educational goals, though exposure to rich cultures and diversity.
I am a committed student, and want to surround myself with educationally minded peers. I am passionate and curious, often delving deep into projects and want a community that shares these values. I have benefited from travel and enjoy meeting new people and seeing new places. Surrounding myself with diverse people and environment will not only develop new friends, but ideas, and solutions. I hope to have excited peers living down the hall from me, all of us living together as students, excited to share our experiences.
Involvement in this program is a clear extension of my coursework in high school. Expanding interest and education to a new level and its application to worldwide communities compliments me, as a student. Activities and community outside the classroom drives many things important to a student such as support and peer networking. Creativity, applied to classes, is found in unique places. Students, roommates, and floormates are sure to spark connections, ideas, and fun needed to find unique solutions to problems.
