After gaining a mechanical engineering degree from Geneva College, I have worked for 30 years in test laboratories including as a project manager for an independent test lab, as a contractor for a major aerospace company (ULA), and now in a university research lab. I have worked on a wide variety of test types such as mechanical strength properties, flammability, environmental exposure, product performance, reliability and durability, and electrical properties. My role in CIEST is to support research projects and graduate students with instrument and data acquisition system configuration, LabVIEW programming, test fixture and apparatus design and fabrication, and equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Outside of my work at CU Boulder, I also provide custom automation and mechatronics system integration services as an entrepreneur through CAMDAC Engineering.
