Colletta Schiller Secures Building Science Internship at BranchPattern

I am a third-year Architectural Engineering major from Littleton, Colorado, with a focus in Mechanical Systems. This summer, I am going to Kansas City, Missouri, to work as a Building Science intern with BranchPattern. BranchPattern is an employee-owned sustainability and engineering consulting firm with offices across the country. They focus on both new construction and building retrofitting, providing a multi-disciplinary approach to their designs. As a Building Science intern, I will be working on projects while viewing building sustainability from a holistic lens. This includes looking at energy efficiency, durability, and occupant comfort through energy modeling and Revit models, among other things.

Throughout my search for internships, I received a few interviews. In each one of these interviews, employers were really interested in what I was doing at CIEST. I think that being able to demonstrate the practical skills I have gained from working at CIEST, as well as highlight the role research has had on my education, was one of the places where I stood out most as an applicant.
