Mimesis Micro Grant Application

Mimesis Micro Grants are awarded to members of the CU Boulder community by application only. Successful projects gain access to Center resources, including field production equipment, editing bay access, and research/fundraising support. A small sum of up to $500* is provided as seed money, with the expectation that the applicant pursues funding sources external to the University.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. All wordcounts are maximums unless stated otherwise.

*Please note: funds cannot be used to pay wages, honoraria or stipends to University faculty, staff, or students. Exceptions may be made in exceptional circumstances.

Provide a brief, catchy summary of your project. 2-3 sentences.
What is your story/structure? Give an overview, introducing the main elements/characters and plot/actions. Describe the anticipated structure and narrative trajectory, i.e. potential character arcs, unfolding themes over time, beginnings and endings, etc. 500 words.
Describe why this topic is important, timely or relevant. Why you? Why this project is timely or urgent. Detail the topics, issues, themes, challenges, stakes, or questions that your project addresses. 500 words.
How are you going to make this project? Describe your creative vision and stylistic approach. If applicable, detail any creative elements and assets, interactive elements, new technologies or non-traditional mediums that you intend to use. Explain how your approach informs the work. 500 words.
Explain the current status of the project. Outline the projected production timeline from the project's current state to the anticipated completion date. 250 words.
Provide brief biographies for the artists on this project. Include notable credits and/or major recognition or award information. For each key creative team member, include information about relevant expertise and the individual's role in the project. Bullet list names and titles of any attached advisors and/or consultants. 200 words per bio.
Provide links and any required passwords to view samples of at least one previous work. Please link to specific projects, not a portfolio or demo reel.
How much are you requesting from Mimesis? Max. $1,000.
Provide a list of all sources and amounts raised to date. Distinguish between potential sources of funding and secured amounts. List the status of other sources of funding currently under consideration, whether to be applied for or pending.
