Patrick Greaney and Emmanuel David, both affiliated with the Center for Documentary Media, have been awarded 2026 Research & Innovation Seed Grants from the CU Boulder Research & Innovation Office for their CDM-sponsored projects, "Penitensya" and "How To Keep An Artist Alive".  The Research & Innovation Seed Grant program is designed to stimulate inter- and multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and creative projects with strong potential for innovation and impact by supporting creative, and sometimes high-risk, high-reward initiatives that advance the university’s future research, scholarly, and artistic activities.

Penitiensya is a multi-modal documentary project that uses ethnography, moving image, photography, performance, and sculpture to explore masculinity & penance rituals in the Philippines and its diaspora.

How To Keep An Artist Alive is a documentary film about the transhemispheric queer friendship of the Argentinian artist Eduardo Costa (born 1940) and the American artist Scott Burton (1939-1989).
