The Free Minds Outside the Classroom series is hosted by Taylor Jaworski, the Associate Faculty Director of the Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization. The series aims to build a community of undergraduate students interested in participating in good-faith dialogs about various timely topics.
Our undergraduate certificate program is for those interested in a rigorous grounding in Western culture, reflecting on its traditions and values. Coursework focuses on languages, cultures, science, the arts, philosophy, law and government in their ancient, medieval and modern forms.
Western Civ classes are taught by CU Boulder faculty and Benson Center visiting scholars.
The Benson Center is now accepting applications from CU Boulder undergraduates for our Undergraduate Fellows Program. Undergraduate Fellows are offered special opportunities to engage with the Center, including discussions with visiting scholars, private receptions with prominent visitors, and advance notice about events and conferences. Our goal in creating the Benson Center Fellows program is to foster an environment of serious intellectual inquiry for all students who desire to learn more about the moral, economic, and political questions of our time. “My biggest gain from being involved with the Center has come from being able to interact with speakers on a personal level.” --2019-20 Benson Center Undergraduate Fellow
