- BENSON CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION
Peter Newton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research studies how market and regulatory mechanisms govern synergies and tradeoffs between environmental and social outcomes, principally in the context of tropical forest conservation, sustainable development, and agriculture in Brazil. Newton is also one of the co-chairs of the University of Colorado Boulder Heterodox Academy campus community. In this capacity, he works to promote the values of open inquiry, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement on campus.
