The Benson Center notes with sadness the passing of Professor David Shneer on Nov. 4, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Professor Shneer was the Louis P. Singer Endowed Chair in Jewish History, Professor of History and Jewish Studies, and former Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Until recently, Professor Shneer served on the Benson Center’s Executive Committee, which advises the director in the advancement of the Center’s mission. Benson Center founding director Professor Robert Pasnau remembered Professor Shneer as “extremely important to the Center’s growth, serving on the Executive Committee for many years, and always offering his unvarnished and energetic opinion about how the Center could be doing better.”
