Visiting Scholar, 2018-2019

In 2018-2019, Marufjon (Maruf) Mirakhmatov, an artisan and architectural historian from Dushanbe,Tajikistan, and grandson of the artisan who built the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse, worked with interns and students in the teahouse restoration. In collaboration with Shawhin Roudbari, assistant professor of environmental design, Mirakhmatov co-taught the ENVD class, “Special Topics: History and Historiography of Environmental Design: Restoring Dushanbe Teahouse,” where students learned and worked side by side with Mirakhmatov, sanding and painting, to restore the inside and outside of the teahouse.
