Subcommittees & Projects

LGBTQ+ Subcommittee
Inclusion and empowerment are core values we hold close, and they’re also at the heart of BFI and our campus community. To help champion these values, we launched an LGBTQ+ Subcommittee within BFI Staff Council that will focus on fostering inclusion, validation, and allyship across our organization. Through events, education, and support initiatives, our goal is to create staff-centered spaces where all voices are heard and celebrated. We are developing our strategic plan — the guiding goals and principles that will shape the subcommittee’s work. We invite staff—whether you identify as LGBTQ+, are questioning, or are an ally—to join us in shaping this vision. Your input will guide our priorities and ensure the subcommittee reflects the needs and aspirations of our community. Please contact claude.masson@colorado.edu for questions or interest.
Engagement & Recognition
BFI Staff Council Community Events
BFI Staff Council's events are designed to bring staff members from around campus together to network and interact with people outside of their respective work groups and to build community between BFI departments. The host location rotates to different home bases of BFI work groups on campus. These used to be known as 'It'S Friday' events when we were a committee in I&S (now I&R).
Awards
BFI Staff Council is always looking for ways to recognize employees for their work in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We created an annual Excellence Award to be included with the I&R Annual Awards starting in 2022.

Communications
Exploring with BFI Staff Council
Exploring with BFI Staff Council is a section in the monthly I&R Employee Newsletter that BFI Staff Council puts out to highlight DEI events, resources and news on campus with BFI staff, previously known as 'Exploring with IROCC.'
Employee Spotlight
We value our coworkers and employees at CU, and want to ensure they are recognized and known in our community. One of the ways we do this is through our Employee Spotlight in the I&R Employee Newsletter released monthly, where we highlight one I&R staff member each month to get to know them better.
Membership & Recruitment
BFI Staff Council values its members and is always seeking to grow and build the committee! Several members of BFI Staff Council worked on a project focused on membership and recruitment for BFI Staff Council through Innovation Buffs in 2021.
BFI Staff Council Website
BFI Staff Council manages this website for the committee in order to share information about what the committee is working on and to act as a resource for staff. We are always open for suggestions on how to make this resource more valuable to you.
