2023 Disability Symposium Student Panelists
Casey Boyd, chemistry graduate student
Casey is a Colorado native, a third-year chemistry graduate student and president of the Association for Students with Disabilities. He has Autism Spectrum Disorder and struggled to communicate effectively with those around him as a child. Having largely overcome those initial challenges, his focus has shifted toward supporting other people with disabilities through advocacy and education.
Mae Anderson (she/her), physics graduate student
Mae is a grad student who is trans and neurodivergent. She has been at CU Boulder since 2019 and has experienced how being neurodivergent intersects with being queer.
Ben Little, computer science graduate student
Ben is a grad student who is neurodiverse and uses mobility aids. He has been at CU Boulder since Fall 2021 and has personal experience of how ableism emerges when small inconveniences cascade into systemic failures.
Emmet Easter, computer science undergraduate student
Emmett is a senior undergraduate in computer science. He has multiple neurodevelopmental and physical disabilities from birth. Having an IEP when he was young has made him very well versed in how following just the legal guidelines leads to students falling between the cracks.
