How to Join AFROTC Detachment 105

  1. Enroll as a full-time student at CU Boulder or one of our crosstown universities.
  1. Create an account via the WINGS Portal.
  2. Upload all required documents under the Supporting Documents tab in WINGS.
  1. Submit the AFROTC Detachment 105 Enrollment Questionnaire to receive a scheduling link.
    • This form must be completed in its entirety before receiving an in-processing appointment scheduling link.
    • You must complete Steps 1 and 2 prior to submitting this form.
    • Registration closes: 21 August 2026 @ 2359 MST
  2. Check your email for an in-person appointment sign-up link after completing the questionnaire.
    • Location: Folsom Field Gate 5, CU Boulder
    • Parking Info: CU Boulder Map – Parking
    • Attire: Business Casual (khakis/slacks, polo, closed-toe shoe, knee-length dress, etc.)
  3. Bring the following to your appointment:
    • Social Security Card
    • ORIGINAL Birth Certificate or US Passport
    • Laptop
    • If applicable: DD214, CAP/JROTC/Eagle Scout Certificates
  1. Register for classes as a full-time student:
    • Undergraduate: 12+ credit hours (AFROTC course included)
    • Graduate: 9+ credit hours (AFROTC course included)
  2. Register for the required AFROTC classes:
    • AIRR 1010 – Heritage and Values
    • AIRR 1947 – Leadership Laboratory
  3. Review the Course Registration Briefing.
  4. Crosstown Cadets – complete the additional registration steps applicable to your school:
    • UCD and UCCS students must complete a Concurrent Registration Form — available at your registrar's office — listing the AFROTC courses you are requesting, and obtain your Dean's office signature and approval.
      • Return the completed form to your respective registrar's office.
      • Concurrent enrollment forms must be completed every semester.
    • All other crosstown cadets must use the CU Boulder Continuing Education ACCESS Program to register for AIRR 1947 – Leadership Lab only. Do not register for any other Aerospace Studies course through ACCESS, as additional courses will incur a charge. Work with your school's Office of the Registrar to register for all other required AFROTC courses.
      • AIRR 1947 is zero (0) credits — there is no cost to enroll.
      • Submit your ACCESS online application as soon as possible. Select the Enrollment tab and follow the provided instructions.
      • Once your ACCESS application is approved by CU Boulder, enroll in AIRR 1947 immediately. Enrollment must be completed no later than one week before the start of the semester.

Detachment 105 follows the CU Boulder academic calendar. Crosstown students must plan accordingly to account for any differences in their school's schedule.

    • Introduction to Cadre and Cadet Leadership
    • Orientation to AFROTC structure and expectations
    • Date, time, and location will be emailed to you upon completion of registration
  • Attire: Business Casual
    • Khaki pants, black dress shoes, and a polo-style shirt
    • Sleeveless shirts are not authorized

  • Attendance is mandatory!
  • Active Duty Prior Service: If you have 180 or more consecutive days of military service, your AIRR 1010 (AS100 Fall) and AIRR 1020 (AS100 Spring) courses may be waived with the Detachment Commander's approval.
    • Register for AIRR 2010 and AIRR 1947 only.
  • ARC/ANG Prior Service: If you have completed BMT and have one (1) creditable year of ARC/ANG service, your AIRR 1010 (AS100 Fall) and AIRR 1020 (AS100 Spring) courses may be waived with the Detachment Commander's approval.
    • Register for AIRR 2010 and AIRR 1947 only.
  • Prospective Judge Advocate General (JAG) Candidates: Pursue a military law career through the Graduate Law Program (GLP) or One-Year College Program (OYCP).
    1. Review GLP and OYCP program opportunities.
    2. Email det105@colorado.edu with the following:

    3. The detachment will contact you to schedule an interview.

Common Mistakes

  • Failing to complete the In-Processing Form: this will prevent you from enrolling.
  • Failing to upload all required documents into WINGS.
  • Forgetting to bring required documents to your in-processing appointment.
  • Missing concurrent enrollment forms — required every semester for UCD and UCCS students.
  • Registering for Aerospace Studies courses incorrectly and incurring tuition charges.

    • Yes — class registration and WINGS account creation can be completed concurrently.
