There was a University of Colorado Boulder alumni reunion of sorts on the Feb. 1 edition of CNBC's financial show "Squawk Box."

CU-Boulder alumnus and CNBC reporter Carl Quintanilla interviewed Chancellor Philip DiStefano live Tuesday morning from the Boulder Beer Company. Joe Kernen, a 1978 graduate of CU-Boulder, anchors the show and the show's producer, Bill O'Reilly, also graduated from CU-Boulder.

Boulder is one of the cities featured in the show's "Opportunity USA" weeklong road trip across America that highlights areas of the country that are making money.

Chancellor DiStefano talked about the job outlook for graduating students, state budget funding and cuts, financial aid and the university's role in helping to foster an entrepreneurial environment in the Boulder area.

The show also included interviews with Sen. Mark Udall and CEOs from companies in the Boulder area.
