When to contact SL Technology Solutions and OIT

Student Life staff have options for IT resources, with Student Life Technology Solutions and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) both offering support for various needs.

When to contact SL Technology Solutions

SL Technology Solutions purchases hardware for most Student Life departments. In addition to periodic laptop replacements and new hire equipment, let SL Technology Solutions know if you need keyboards, mice, cameras or USB headsets.

Contact SL Technology Solutions for:

  • Equipment needs
  • Inquiries about computer replacements or other office tech recommendations (printers, all-in-one devices)
  • IT equipment disposal
  • Software consultation
  • Software renewals
  • New software purchases
  • Business intelligence and reporting
  • Custom reporting, data visualizations and self-service reporting solutions

There are two ways to create a ticket for SL Technology Solutions. For day-to-day questions or problems, email saithelpdesk@colorado.edu. If you prefer to call, the number is 303-735-4357 (5-HELP). Calls are managed by the OIT IT Service Center, and they will route the ticket to SL Technology Solutions as needed.

Desktop support

For desktop support, there are two options:

  • OIT Dedicated Desktop Support (DDS): desktopsupport.colorado.edu This is the primary contact for DDS customers. If you are an OIT DDS customer, you will have a blue icon with a red question mark on your desktop that says, “Get Desktop Support.”
  • SL Technology Solutions: saithelpdesk@colorado.edu. This is the primary contact if you are not a DDS customer.

Desktop support includes issues like:

  • You or a student employee has issues logging in
  • You don’t have the software you need
  • You’re having internet issues
  • There’s a problem with existing software, a slow computer, a loud computer, etc.

OIT DDS customers have a desktop icon for their support portal, or they can visit desktopsupport.colorado.edu. Staff in the UMC can email UMC IT directly via Umc-it@colorado.edu.
