CESR Business Ethics Case Competition

The Center for Education on Social Responsibility is proud to host the 4th and final Business Ethics Case Competition. Prize money for the competition is higher than ever at a total of $15,000 in awards for winning teams. The competition consists of a preliminary round and a final round. Teams in the first round will be split into flights with the top 2-3 teams from each flight continuing on to the final round. Each round will have separate cases on a related topic.

CESR has held the Business Ethics Case Competition for three years to-date in order to challenge students to apply their values and skills learned in Leeds classes to difficult real-world cases. The ethical dilemmas explored in the competition range from topics in energy production to company supply chains, each dealing with a complex web of stakeholder needs and interests.

This year will mark the fourth and final Competition with the largest prize pool yet.

– Teams must be composed of 4-6 undergraduate students.

– At least 2 of the team members must be underclassmen (freshman or sophomore).

– At least 2 of the team members must be upperclassmen (junior and above).

– Students may sign up as a team (competition organizers may place additional team members on teams smaller than 6 members)

– Students may sign up as a single participant. Competition organizers will either form a team with individual signups or place individual participants on existing teams.

Judges will utilize the following scoring criteria in evaluating teams throughout the competition

– Delivery
– Depth and breadth of analysis of the ethical issues
– Persuasiveness
– Creativity
– Recommendations that are both ethical and practical in a business context
– Responses to questions
