The Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science is available to students currently enrolled at CU Boulder under a major degree program in the below disciplines.

Degree programs affiliated with ICS are Architecture and PlanningComputer ScienceInformation ScienceIntegrative PhysiologyLinguisticsPhilosophyPsychology and NeuroscienceSchool of Education, and Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences.

All students must be admitted to one of the above degree programs before applying to the Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science Program.

ICS is not an admitting department for CU Boulder - you apply for admission to the Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science Program after you have been admitted to CU through a department that will confer your major degree.

1 Students are encouraged to enroll in the program during their sophomore year and no later than the beginning of their junior year.
2 Applications are accepted year-round.
3 Students interested in an ICS program should contact their major degree department's faculty affiliated with ICS (see the ICS Fellows page) and meet with them to fill out the Application Form and Plan of Study form
4 Acceptance to the Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science Program is approved by the ICS Academic Program Director

Students must submit three items to apply: unofficial transcript; Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science Program Application Form; and Plan of Study/Progress Report Form.

1 Students will need to submit an Unofficial Transcript with their application forms. 
2 Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science Program Application Forms may be downloaded, completed, and brought to the ICS office in Muenzinger D414. You may also pick up blank Application Forms at the office.
3 Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science Plan of Study/Progress Report maybe downloaded, completed, and brought to the ICS office in Muenzinger D414. You may also pick up blank Plan of Study/Progress Report forms at the office.
  Acceptance to the Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Science Program is approved by the ICS Academic Program Director

The ICS Academic Program Director will approve the enrollment on the basis of the information provided on the student’s Application Form, Plan of Study, and transcript.

Students aceepted and enrolled into the program are encouraged to meet with the ICS Affiliated Faculty from their major department at least once per year to review their progress in the program. 

Upon completion of the program requirements, students must provide an unofficial transcript to the Academic Program Director and request a review. The Academic Program Director will review the transcript to ascertain whether the student has met the requirements. Once approved, the Institute will contact the Registrar’s Office to include the certification on the student's official record. Certificates are awarded at the Institute’s spring celebration.
