Call for Nominations - Campus Sustainability Awards: Nominations are now being accepted for the annual Campus Sustainability Awards that recognize outstanding individuals and departments who demonstrate a sincere commitment to reducing the burden that CU-Boulder places on the environment. Go hug a tree! CU Boulder has been recognized as a 2012 Tree Campus USA, meeting the five core standards for campus forest management: a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance, and a student service-learning project. Congrats to all the FM staff who helped us earn this honor.
Kudos: The City of Boulder’s Broadway (Euclid to 18th) Transportation Improvements Project has received two awards, one from the Colorado Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and another from the Colorado Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS), in recognition of the city’s collaborative and innovative approach to the project.

LEED Gold! The new JILA wing has received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold rating from the United States Green Building Council. The addition is about 25% more energy efficient and 30% more water efficient when compared with similar types of recently built, code-compliant buildings.
Congratulations! JILA, Systems Biotechnology and Smith Hall were honored by Engineering News Report in the publication’s 2012 Best Projects competition for the mountain states region. Learn more here
