Volunteer Opportunity for Engineering Students

CU Students,

I am seeking volunteers to lead our afterschool engineering clubs (called TEAMS Clubs) for this fall semester. Can you help out at our clubs in Longmont and Lafayette elementary/middle schools teaching K-12 youth about engineering?

Clubs start the week of October 5th and go through the week of November 30th it’s one hour a week (plus drive time) and is so much fun to work with young students. I guarantee: it would be the highlight of your week that’s not school related!

It’s ~15-20 hour commitment over the spring semester and counts towards any scholarship or society service that you may have. I supply the activities each week;  you simply teach kids how fantastic engineering is and help inspire them to consider engineering as a career option. Also, if you have a car and can drive a group of CU students to/from a school, I will reimburse your mileage.

I have clubs starting between 2:30 and 3:30 on Mondays through Thursdays (and need leaders yet for all days/times).  Please let me know ASAP at janet.yowell@colorado.edu if you’re available (clearly stating which day[s] and starting at what time you have open).

Again, time counts towards scholarship and/or student society service requirements.

Thx., Janet Yowell
