Attention: EVEN Seniors who are graduating and have not taken the FE Exam:

The FE Exam is now offered as a Computer-Based Exam. The year-round testing for the FE Exam begun, January 2014. NCEES will administer the FE Exam exclusively via computer at one of several approved Pearson VUE testing centersthis website will provide the testing centers in CO: http://ncees.org/exams/test-center-locations/

The FE Exam will be administered during 4 testing windows throughout the year: (January - February, April - May, July - August, and October -November)

We are encouraging you to please note that the May and November windows are too close to the end of the semester to take the exam, especially when projects/designs are challenging to complete.

Here are the instructions to take the Computer-Based FE Exam.  Read and follow the steps:

  1. Log onto the NCEES website: https://account.ncees.org/login  to register and pay for the exam, $225.  You will receive an “approval” email from NCEES once they have verified you are approved by the state to sit for the exam.  You MUST bring me the DORA app. BEFORE you will ever receive this "approval" email. Bring or email me a copy of the NCEES confirmation that you applied and paid for the exam.
  2. Log onto the DORA website:  https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/dora/AES_Applications complete the student IE application (only 1 page long), print and bring your application and a check for $30 made out to State of Colorado to Joanne Uleau.
  •  When filling out the Student Application Read the instructions carefully – about half of all students have to re-do the student application because they don’t follow instructions.
  • We recommend you save the completed application so that you can easily make changes if needed.
  • DORA Student Application MUST be typed
  • Do not leave any fields blank – write “N/A” if not applicable
  • Part 2 of the Education History: List high school, Degree type “Diploma” and Degree Major should be “N/A”
  • For CU, Degree TYPE “BS” or “BS/MS” and Degree Major TYPE “EVEN”  For “years to-from” TYPE actual years attended, ex. 2012-2015, (not, 4 years)
  • Use your CU e-mail address
  • Make sure your application prints on one page – two-page applications will not be accepted
  • Students without a Social Security Number must also complete the following affidavit: http://www.dora.state.co.us/registrations/SSNaffidavit.pdf

3.  Once you receive the “approval” email, from NCEES you will then log back into your NCEES account on the NCEES website to register for a particular testing site, date/time to sit for the test. You will then receive the appointment confirmation letter via email from Pearson Vue.

To reserve a date/time to take the test, the sight will be open year-round; however, it is important that you register early, before spaces fill up; especially if you are in need of a Saturday testing exam.

At least 3-4 months ahead of time!

4. Transcript Waiver Form

  •  Print legibly in ink or type, any corrections made on the form, or done in pencil, is not acceptable
  • Years of Attendance should be the actual years you attended CU (e.g. “2008-2012”), not the number of years (e.g. “4”)
  • Please use your CU e-mail address

Bring the following forms to Joanne Uleau, ECES 111A

This is the only way you will receive the "approval" email to register for the exam.
