Brian Cook, David Kahn and the students from their spring 2013 Burke Park Praxis Studio received the American Society of Landscape Architects Colorado 2013 Merit Award For Design.  The design-build project won this professional achievement award going up against licensed landscape architecture professionals

ENVD Professor Kevin Krizek is one of seven CU-Boulder faculty to receive a 2013-13 Fulbright grant. Krizek, who also is outreach and education coordinator and transportation fellow at the CU Environmental Center, currently is in Bologna, Italy.

In the spring of 2013, a class of twenty-five junior and senior Landscape Architecture students at CU Boulder were invited by the City of Boulder to create an outdoor classroom for Horizons K-8 Charter School. It was part of a design/build curriculum led by instructors Brian Cook and David Kahn, in conjunction with the City of Boulder Parks and recreation Department.

CU-Boulder 'Green Tech' course results in eco-friendly, functional art

University of Colorado professor Julee Herdt gave students in her design class an assignment: Build architecturally beautiful pieces of furniture.

The tricky part? Undergraduates in this "Green Tech" course were instructed not to buy any materials for the project -- and, instead, search for scraps, whether in alleyways or salvage yards. If students did need to make purchases, they needed to be minimal -- say, at thrift stores.
