Radboud University in Nijmegen has appointed its first ever cycling professor – Kevin J. Krizek

Radboud University in Nijmegen has appointed its first ever cycling professor – and the job is being filled by an American transport expert from the University of Colorado. Visiting professor Keven Krizek will research why the Dutch are so keen on cycling and what the future of cycling is likely to be.  He will also work together with Nijmegen civil servants in solving a number of thorny bike-related issues, broadcaster Nos reports.

ENVD Senior Instructor Tori Derr and ENVS Associate Professor Jill Litt were named Faculty Fellows for Community Based Learning by CU Engage for their joint proposal to integrate Growing Up Boulder’s outreach into undergraduate teaching in the 2015-2016 academic year.

SALA teamed up with Vincent Aquino, Lead Arborist for the University, and volunteers from various departments to plant 6 trees between the Business and Engineering Buildings  in honor of the Arbor Day Foundation's recognition of CU Boulder as a Tree Campus USA.  The experience was an opportunity for Landscape Architecture students to engage in a local landscape planning process, with the goals to increase species diversity and learn proper planting techniques.

ENVD Senior Instructor, Michael Tavel was a visiting artist at the University of Toledo Department of Art at the Toledo Museum of Art on March 31st and April 1st. He delivered a talk titled ‘The Art and Craft of Sustainable Cities.’

Boulder was chosen by the Rockefeller Foundation as part of its 100 Resilient Cities Challenge. A grant is paying the salary of Chief Resiliency Officer Greg Guibert and facilitating communication and information sharing between member cities as they develop a resiliency strategy.
