<p><span>The Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN, or MAVEN, mission to Mars will carry just over 1,100 haiku, along with thousands of names, on its journey to the red planet. The haiku were part of a contest, sponsored by the University of Colorado Boulder, asking the public to submit haiku poetry relating to NASA’s upcoming MAVEN mission to Mars.</span></p>

<p>University of Colorado Boulder astrophysicist Doug Duncan says this year's annual Perseid meteor shower and its natural nighttime light show will be particularly good as the display becomes visible over Colorado Aug. 10-13.</p>
<p>"The moon will be nearly new, so it's an especially good time to see the meteor shower," said Duncan, director of CU-Boulder's Fiske Planetarium.</p>

<p><span>The 50th annual meeting of the international Animal Behavior Society to be held at the University of Colorado Boulder July 28-Aug. 2 will feature several public events, including lectures, scientific demonstrations and a film festival.</span></p>
<p>The public lectures, to be held at the Glenn Miller Ballroom in the University Memorial Center, are part of the Applied Animal Behavior Public Day on Sunday, July 28, titled “Creating Quality Lives for Dogs and Cats Through the Science of Animal Behavior.”  </p>

<p>The confidence of Colorado business leaders has continued its strong upward trend, surging into the third quarter of 2013, according to the most recent Leeds Business Confidence Index, or LBCI, released today by the University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business.</p>

Space is limited for the launch viewing, and NASA requires we submit a list of tentative guests months in advance. All attendees MUST be registered with us by June 30 to be on NASA’s guest list.</p>

<p>As the school year wraps up, students at Summit Charter Middle School in Boulder will debrief on how their $25,000 stock portfolio performed.</p>
<p>The middle school students invested money under supervision as part of a course created and taught by accounting and finance students from the University of Colorado Boulder’s <a href="http://leeds.colorado.edu/">Leeds School of Business</a>.</p>

<p>Google Inc. and the University of Colorado Boulder computer science department are partnering to inspire high school and middle school teachers looking for motivating, engaging and fun ways to prepare students for college and career success during an activities-packed workshop July 10-12.</p>

<p>NASA is inviting members of the public to submit their names and a personal message online for a DVD to be carried aboard a spacecraft that will study the Martian upper atmosphere.</p>
<p>Scheduled for launch in November, the DVD will be in NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft. The DVD is part of the mission's Going to Mars Campaign coordinated at the University of Colorado Boulder's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics.</p>

<p>Engineering students at the University of Colorado Boulder are gearing up for several days of intensive activity next week, when they will celebrate Engineering Days and display their hands-on design projects at the annual spring Engineering Design Expo.</p>
<p>Engineering Days, or E-Days, is an annual celebration of the engineering profession organized by the University of Colorado Engineering Council, or UCEC, and student honor societies. Activities include a water rocket launch, high school and college egg drops, a carnival and other fun activities for students.</p>

<p>The University of Colorado Boulder’s annual Conference on World Affairs returns to campus for the 65th time April 8-12, featuring 200 panel discussions, performances and plenaries.  Over 100 participants from around the country and the globe will pay their own way to travel to Boulder to present in what Roger Ebert has dubbed “the Conference on Everything Conceivable.”</p>
