SA IT zero client replacement project spring and summer 2023

SA IT is excited to share that we are moving forward to replace HP zero clients in the coming months! SA IT has over 250 devices to swap and we anticipate the project will take from April 1 through Aug. 1, with most swaps occurring over the summer.

For staff that currently have a laptop, we will be replacing their zero client with a dual monitor docking station. Staff will still log in to VDI but will use their laptop as their computing device. Staff will use the camera and speakers on their laptops for Teams and Zoom meetings. This configuration is consistent with other departments in Student Affairs.

For staff without a laptop, shared stations and student stations, we will be replacing the HP zero clients with a Dell all-in-one kiosk workstation that boots directly to VMWare Horizon. These stations have cameras and speakers built into the screen. The increased computing power means that staff will be able to do Teams and Zoom calls from their workstation.
