Mission Statement:

The core purpose of our organization is to offer assistance, empowerment, and networking avenues for gender minorities within the aerospace sector, with an initial focus on university students. We passionately welcome those who identify as gender minorities and allies, while fostering a trans-inclusive environment that is open to individuals who identify as gender non-conforming.

Our central objectives are as follows:

  1. Enhance the involvement of underrepresented minorities in aerospace by advancing their technical and professional development.
  2. Cultivate a secure and inviting space for minorities through mentorship and community engagement.
  3. Establish a nurturing aerospace community that promotes mutual support.

General Information:

We meet bi-weekly throughout the fall and spring semesters and organize a variety of events encompassing both professional and technical growth, as well as social interactions. WoAA is committed to establishing connections between students and aerospace both within and beyond CU. Our utmost priority lies in fostering students' self-assurance alongside their peers and have a nurturing environment where success thrives.

Letter from the President:

Welcome!

My name is Angelina Miller, and I am honored to be the president of Women of Aeronautics and Astronautics for the 2023 to 2024 academic year. Currently, a senior pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering with a minor in space, I hope to go into industry post-graduation. My journey with WoAA commenced in the fall of 2020 when I joined the executive board as the treasurer.

We hope to continue to grow our organization and would love for you to join us! If you have a passion for aerospace or want to network with people in the aerospace community, this is the student society for you! Our core mission revolves around providing support, empowerment, and networking avenues for gender minorities in the aerospace field, initially concentrating on university students. Our array of activities encompasses social gatherings, technical sessions, professional networking, and academic pursuits. Examples of events/opportunities WoAA has offered include panel discussions and speakers, organizing outreach for K-12, participating in industry tours, and traveling to national and local conferences. Your involvement can be a pivotal addition to our dynamic community!

Catch us at the Be Involved Fair, CU Unity Fest, and Engineering Immersion events. Do not hesitate to contact us in person at these gatherings, or you're welcome to email us at woaa@colorado.edu if you have any questions. Our events happen bi-weekly and are mainly located in the Chevron Room in the Bold Center on Mondays from 6 PM to 7 PM. Our first meeting will be September 6th from 6 PM to 7 PM located directly outside Williams Village North Hall. We will have outdoor activities and games for students to use so we hope to see you there! Our second meeting will be Monday, September 18th from 6 pm to 7 pm in the Bold Center. This event will be an internship versus research discussion that will also highlight fellowships available to apply for. We are also hosting our first ever conference this semester so make sure to look at our conference page on our website to stay up to date with information on that! If you would like to stay up to date with what events we are hosting, join our newsletter, check out our website, and follow us on social media: https://linktr.ee/cuwoaa/.
