  • Location: JSCBB (multiple rooms)
  • Technology focus: Biophysical / biochemical characterization
  • Instruments: EPR, CD, Fluorescence, UV/VIS, Stopped-flow, DLS, SEC-MALS, CG-MALS, MST, ITC, high-speed/ultra centrifuges, homogenizer, Image systems for gels, western blots and phosphor storage screens, sonicators, liquid scintillation counters (for complete list, see website)
  • Open to: Dept. of Biochemistry, to other CU Boulder research groups buying into SIP, and occasional external/industry use (as availability allows) on a fee-for-service base

SIP offers specialized, state-of-the-art instrumentation for the biophysical and biochemical characterization of biological macromolecules and complexes and a multitude of “everyday” instruments.

Instruments were placed into SIP by research groups in the Department of Biochemistry and by groups from other departments buying into SIP to facilitate sharing of instruments, resources, expertise and analytical capabilities.

SIP staff offers instrument training and can provide support for research projects every step of the way from project planning to optimization, trouble shooting and data evaluation/interpretation, as needed by the user.
