After I graduate, I hope to become a researcher in the cognitive neuroscience field, especially concerning how language affects consciousness and memory. Working with STUDIO Lab will provide invaluable research experience for me, and has already done so through my work with the program this semester, under Essie Hengeveld. Working with Essie has entailed translating material into Spanish and starting to work on statistical analysis of data, and has given me invaluable hands-on experience with time management, collaboration, and working with programs as I learn new methods of analysis. I have thus far enjoyed my experience with STUDIO Lab immensely, and I hope to continue it in the 2023/2024 school year.

Outside of my work with STUDIO Lab this semester, I have a number of other pertinent life experiences. In high school, I was Editor-in-Chief of our school newspaper, The Royal Banner. This gave me experience leading and communicating with a team, conducting interviews, and delivering a polished product before our deadlines. At CU, I participate in oSTEM, which is for members of the LGBT community who are seeking STEM degrees. Additionally, I participate in the Reading Buddies program with the Boulder Library, which is a volunteering program that pairs me with an elementary schooler who I work with weekly, focusing on reading and writing skills. This has given me the opportunity to engage with my community in a way that I hope to continue through STUDIO.
