The Studio Lab program would enrich my college experience by providing first-hand research experience including necessary skills in investigation and analysis. As an undergraduate student with a goal of attending medical school, participation in research proves key to my acceptance. Unfortunately, it seems rather impossible to be accepted to research positions and internships without prior research experience. Even with experience in conducting my own research in CU's integrative physiology lab, I have struggled to find further research experience. The Studio Lab program would allow me additional experience in research, give me exposure to different topics of research, and grant me the opportunity to build connections with professionals. In the broader scope, in the future I hope to create a positive impact on people’s lives and the medical world through research, understanding physiological processes scientists deem unknown, and the discovery of new treatments and solutions to problems presumed untreatable. Due to the long duration of the path to becoming a physician, this goal proves to be more long-term and 15-20 years down the road. However, the Studio program would allow me the incredible opportunity to create an impact now. From my understanding, Studio Lab emphasizes the goal of a stepping stone for success and prioritizes enthusiasm for conducting research for students who haven't necessarily completed any yet in their careers. As a student who has been searching for research opportunities for quite some time, and in desperate need of opportunities for my future success, I feel as though this program is perfect for me.
