I am a neuroscience major and I am also pursuing the public health certificate.
My path to becoming a lawyer will be a little different than most. I want to use my education in neuroscience and public health to become an attorney in the pharmaceutical industry who can apply a complex understanding of neuropharmacology to law—a field that is often thought of as being entirely separate from science. To succeed in both science and law, I believe that you need strong research skills. I plan to use my experience in the Studio Lab program as an opportunity to begin honing my research skills before writing an honors thesis in my senior year. With this skill set, I plan to work as a volunteer paralegal through the Americorps organization after graduating from CU Boulder before attending law school.
In my senior year of high school, I wrote a research paper detailing the impact of the US occupation on postwar Japanese amphetamine usage. I also served as my school district’s curriculum director for our chapter of the Diversify Our Narrative Organization. I value my ability to approach subjects through a unique lens while advocating for inclusive environments. This summer, as I work as a volunteer for the Boulder County Public Health GENERATIONS program, I will practice applying my passion for public health to my local community. In the fall, through the Studio Lab program, I hope to do all of this while continuing to grow as a student and young professional.
