As an International Affairs and Linguistics double major, I am eager for the opportunity to assist with research projects related to my interests and build strong connections with CU faculty. After graduating, my goal is to pursue a career in linguistic analysis within the FBI or CIA, or as a foreign service member with the US Department of State. Additionally, I plan to submit and defend an International Affairs Honors Thesis in the spring of 2025, focused on language related to globalization and international economic development. A Studio Lab research opportunity would give me important mentored research experience, paving the way for future research projects later in my college career. Studio Lab prioritizes recruiting a diverse group of students, and I strongly believe my background and experiences will contribute positively to the program. I was raised on a grain and livestock farm in rural Iowa, and developed a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility from a young age. After graduating from high school, I spent a summer in Romania volunteering as an English teacher, gaining invaluable experience in intercultural communication, effective leadership, and living outside of my comfort zone. At CU Boulder, I balance rowing competitively with Colorado Crew, maintain a part-time job at Flower Child Boulder, and take full course loads each semester, which has sharpened my time management skills. These experiences have taught me to take initiative in solving problems, prioritize meaningful relationships, and both fully commit to opportunities and persevere in the face of adversity.

I am interested in linguistic analysis, globalization studies in Asia, travel/field work opportunities, and the development of general research skills.
