I believe that working in the Studio Lab program would deeply enrich my college experience through learning. I think that I would be given the opportunity to foster skills that would improve my academic performance, as well as foster skills that are pertinent to my major, such as data analysis. It’s also incredibly important to be challenged in academics, and Studio Lab would present a challenge while still being guided by a mentor. I am still exploring potential career pathways after completing my degree, and being a part of the program would help me to hone in on what exactly I might want to pursue after graduation, such as grad school. Studio Lab has the potential to guide my future endeavors, and shape me into the student and professional I seek to become. In addition, I genuinely view the Studio Lab as a unique and excellent opportunity as a student at CU. Growing up, I always observed a distinct lack of female role models in politics as well as academia. I believe it is incredibly important for women and other underrepresented groups to participate in fields of research as well as fields such as politics, and I have always sought to be the representation that I missed as a young girl. Equity and inclusion is something I would like to help create not only for myself but also for others. In the past, I have worked in an environment that prioritized diversity and inclusion; I was employed at a CPA firm that employed mostly women and women of color. I also believe that the courses I’ve taken at CU and in high school have prepared me to accomplish the goals held for students in the program.
