DatahawkRECUV researchers have deployed to Oliktok Point, AK as part of the Department of Energy project "Evaluation of Routine Atmospheric Sounding Measurements using Unmanned Systems (ERASMUS)." The RECUV team will fly the Datahawk 2 UAS for 12 hours continually every day for two weeks in order to acquire persistent sounding measurements. The aircraft only has a 60 minute endurance, so a new aircraft is launched every hour. Teams work in 4 hour shifts to cover the duration each day. More information on the progress of the mission can be found here and here.
