An ethnographic film meant to be a family archive for my family’s roots from El Tule, Chihuahua, “Somos El Tule'' is a collection of stories, conversations and daily routines experienced after many generations of our family have resided there until immigrating to the United States. We return 1-2 times a year to immerse ourselves into the beautiful outdoors, surrounded by sunny, back to back cloudless days. From shopping at the local stores, cooking authentic Mexican food, storytelling Pancho Villa’s presence in the past and searching for hidden money, this film captures the beauty in the simplicity and hidden gems of this hidden 200 year old town in Chihuahua, Mexico.
