My name is Sam, and I'm a visual artist who enjoys exploring in the 3D medium. I've worked in 3D since around 2019, specifically creating 3D music videos/visualizers for songs I enjoy. I love when there's a cohesive connection between music and visual art. I try to hit that mark when creating the content that I do. My artist name is Demuny, which is just a screen name I somehow thought of when I was younger, creating accounts for stuff online; it has no deeper meaning beyond that!
This video was created as my visual interpretation of the song 'White Ferrari' by Frank Ocean. It connects some of the visual themes that Frank has presented with his work with my own ideas and art direction. For this project, I wanted to make a 3D video that felt like a real music video, with a sense of direction, cinematography, and composition. I obsessed over details like lighting, camera movement, etc., to ensure everything felt natural. Working in 3D also allows me to do things that I currently couldn't normally do, like surround a character in multi-million dollar cars or have a character sit in a field filled with cherry blossom trees. The ability to create whatever I want has driven my growing interest in 3D, and I hope to translate that into a creative career in the music industry.
The main character drives a car at night with his partner; this shot focuses on the main character facing down at his legs as he drives. Recorded on a VHS tape, symbolizing an experience
Shot of the main character alone on the right side of the car. The left car door is opened. The right street light is broken
Shot of the main character alone inside a car, right side. As the video progresses in this shot, a mystical figure appears in the left seat, representing that lost partner
Main character alone in field, with a white phone booth in the center. This shot begins the sequence of more abstract shots, as the character falls into a drug trip from this point onward
Abstract shot of partner looking into camera with song lyrics on the bottom. I keep the partner mostly mysterious throughout this video, occasionally showing shots/close-ups of her face. The texture of this shot was created by playing the original render on my monitor at a very low resolution, and using a DSLR camera with a macro lens to record the monitor. This gives that pixel-like texture that's present in this shot, as well as some others in the video
