Jake Beauprez (Beauprêx) is an indie singer-songwriter/producer. He has personally witnessed the power of music change, and sometimes even save lives. This prompted him to dedicate his artistic energies to creating music that impacts people, and the world at large, for the better. Not limited to any specific genres, his production style ranges from pop, to folk, to rock. He hopes to be a beacon of light in a world full of chaos.
This music is meant to capture the difficult emotions I've gone through, namely depression and anxiety, along with the personal experiences associated with those times. The music itself has a warm, soft texture to it, and is generally slower, with a sort of spaciousness created by reverb and delay. There is a lot of focus on the vocals and the acoustic guitar in most songs, and it has a sort of underwater, melancholic feel to it for most of the EP.
Dawn is an indie folk EP with the message that healing isn't a straight path, and we take many twists and turns on our way to truly finding peace within ourselves. Its intent is to bring comfort and hope to listeners who are going through difficult times, and to remind them that they aren’t alone in whatever they are experiencing. While Beauprêx is all about positivity and bringing that energy to his listeners, it is also very important to address the darkness. Just as muscles grow stronger by being torn apart, we must courageously face our difficult emotions and process them to truly heal and grow. The EP concludes, as many of the songs within it do, with a tone of reassuring hope; a reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
