We will provide participants with tools for eliciting students’ interests and strategies for selecting phenomena and design challenges that align with community priorities.

NGSS@NSTA Forum Session: Storylined, Research-Driven and Student Centered: An Introduction to iHub Biology

Come learn what it’s like to teach units that are collaboratively built by teachers and researchers and center on student interest. iHub Biology is a yearlong storylined biology course with anchoring phenomena such as antibiotic resistant bacteria, Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy, CRISPR, and population changes of large mammals in Serengeti National Park. The units are freely available online. Hear what it's like to shift to storyline driven instruction and the benefits and challenges involved in implementing three-dimensional curriculum.
