By Leah Colvin
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) is happy to announce the launch of our website!
This website is designed to provide information to support new and prospective postdocs, current postdocs, and faculty mentors of postdocs at CU Boulder. Here, you can learn about the mission of the OPA as well as news and events hosted by the OPA and Postdoctoral Association of Colorado (PAC).
Prospective Postdocs
The OPA website can help you get a feel for what life in Boulder is like, how to find housing and transportation to campus, and how to get the most out of your postdoc. The Postdoctoral Handbook will give you additional information on life at CU.
New Postdocs
This site has dedicated sections help you become acquainted with life at CU Boulder. Here you can find information on finding housing, getting to know Boulder, career development and planning, and new employee training. The Quick Start Checklist, Postdoctoral Handbook, and New Postdoc Orientation will provide you with the tools you need to access campus resources.
Current Postdocs
The OPA offers a number of resources to support postdoctoral career development, including consultations, creating your individual development plan (IDP), career exploration, and skill development. Resources are available to find and apply for fellowships or grants and jobs.
Additional information is available on what services and benefits are available to you, including resources for international postdocs and postdocs with families.
Finally, the OPA website connects you with campus resources for counseling, mediation and advocacy in addition to required and recommended training as well as business-related travel.
Faculty Mentors
Part of the OPA’s mission is to support faculty mentors of postdocs, both through consultation and online resources, including best mentoring practices, how to support postdoctoral Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and annual performance reviews, and additional mentoring resources. The OPA can serve to connect postdocs and their mentors with on-campus resources for postdoctoral career development, counseling, and training.
