michael english headshotCongratulations to Dr. Michael D. English on his well-deserved promotion to Director of the Peace, Conflict and Security (PACS) Program! Dr. English was hired into the program as an instructor in 2018 and hired as Associate Director of PACS in the Summer of 2019. The PACS program has gone through tremendous change and growth since Dr. English has been in a director role. Enrollment in PACS courses has increased by 44% and the number of certificates awarded has almost doubled. 28 students completed the PACS certificate in Spring 2022.  

Additionally, Dr. English has added six new courses to the curriculum, including PACS 3850: International Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding and PACS 3860: Environmental Conflict and Conflict Resolution. Dr. English has also created a partnership with CU’s Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice programs, which has resulted in an internship program and two new PACS 3000 Special Topics courses covering Restorative Justice and Mediation Skills.
